MAKING THE LAW WORK FOR ARIZONA EMPLOYEESThe Arizona Employment Lawyers Association (AzELA) is an Arizona-statewide specialty bar association of lawyers and related professionals who exclusively or primarily represent employees in employment-related legal matters. AzELA presently has over one hundred members. AzELA is the Arizona affiliate of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), a national organization of attorneys dedicated to advancing employee rights and serving lawyers who advocate for equality and justice in the American workplace. For more information about NELA, please visit www.nela.org. The primary purpose of AzELA is to conduct educational meetings regarding employment law for attorneys, law students, and other interested persons. Among other things, AzELA provides its members with opportunities to fulfill continuing legal education (“CLE”) requirements by means of an annual employment law seminar each February and approximately nine or ten additional monthly meetings throughout the year focusing on recent significant cases and developments in employment law at no additional cost beyond the membership fee. In addition, AzELA promotes the interests of employees and assists its lawyer-members through information sharing, professional networking, and advocacy (including amicus filings) on issues important to members and the employees they represent. Finally, in connection with AzELA’s public outreach efforts, interested community groups may contact AzELA to request a speaker on a given topic of employment law, such as general wage-and-hour requirements or the rights of patients and caregivers under the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. (Please see the “Contact Us” section to submit a request for a speaker from AzELA on a particular topic of employment law or for inquiries about membership.) |
